Marty is a CGEF Director and professional geoscientist with over 35 years of E&P experience. He has held numerous technical and management leadership positions responsible for significant exploration and field development projects involving North American and international assets and has written extensively on exploration plays, reservoir management, business optimization, and technology applications. He has been a thought leader in exploration and reservoir management, and has developed Centers of Excellence for reservoir characterization, exploration portfolio analysis and G&G training.
He has previously held positions as South America Business Unit Manager for Niko Resources, VP of International Exploration for Reliance Industries, VP of North America Business Development for the Information Store, and also enjoyed a 26-year career with Chevron that covered all US onshore basins.
At Chevron Marty also served on key corporate and industry committees, including Chevron’s Corporation Reserves Advisory Committee, Strategic Staffing and Strategic R&D Committees, and the CAPP East Coast Advisory Committee. Other significant industry and non-profit organization roles include: AAPG National Convention Poster Session Chairman; SPE Permian Basin Chapter Enhanced Recovery Conference Technical Committee; Board of Directors for the Permian Basin Graduate Center; and conference session chairmanships for AAPG, SPE, and the CIPC.
He is currently president of his own consulting company, "International Petroleum Consultants", and is President of the Oil & Gas Investments Group, a Houston-based holding company for Latin America investments in the E&P operating and services sectors.
Marty earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Western State College of Colorado, and his master’s degree in geology from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a registered professional geologist and an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist. He holds memberships in the AAPG and CSPG.
